Photography that's head and shoulders above the rest
So what is a pole*pics?
Pole*pics will soon be in the news. The editor of a specialist local newspaper emailed us and asked if they could come over and have a chat about pole*pics. Amazing to think the concept and website is having that sort of affect already!
Now we know it’s important to be able to illustrate the concept clearly, but with our mast just over a week away from delivery and therefore no real photo’s – life can be a bit tough at times. So we scratched out heads and decided that this may well be an excuse for some fun, creating a simulated newspaper shoot scenario using our favourite toy from old Lego!
So even though we all need to wait just a little while longer in order to check out the real pictures, at least we can show you what the pole*pics angle is without suggesting you visit another website! In the above image we used the remote control software with the Nikon camera mounted on a conventional tripod in the pole*pics studio. For info we are simulating about 50′ – 60′ here.
We’re not going to say much about the article just yet because we’d rather like to keep it a surprise for when the newspaper is published, but the editor not only loved the pole photography concept, our method of demonstrating what a pole *pics is was described as a fantastic treat too!

As a professional advertising art director, your lego shoot really helps me visualize the pole•pics concept. Way to go! Looking forward to seeing some actual shots once your equipment is up and running.

Great to find your ad in County Magazine Steve. Your logo for pole pics immediately told me what you are going to do! In fact last week on March Break as we drove past “cherry pickers” in the Niagara region I told my wife my great idea of hiring a truck like that and going around to photograph common scenes from a new angle. I have already explored cameras on kites and helium balloons, even saw a radio controlled plane that carries a cam. I will definitely be interested to see the results you get, congratulations. Just a word of caution if you have a lift or a boom watch out for electric lines. I am astonished how many times I have read reports in the NPPA’s News Photographer magazine about mobile tv crews getting fried in their vehicle when they raise their antenna into power lines. Hope to meet up here in the County some time ( http://www.countyphotographer.com ).
