Enjoying Prince Edward County produced Wine is how I spent much of the last part of 2009
Red, White, Sparkling….. I’ve no preference although I must add that I am not drinking it, rather producing images for Huff Estates - one of the largest wineries and vineyards in PEC.
Other than resisting the temptation to enjoy the contents, the greatest challenge when creating catalogue reference images is to control the light and avoid finding your reflection in the glass. While there is a definite look required - using the term industry standard highlights sounds to clinical here - it is also important that the images do not end up looking computer generated either.
For those who may consider that this kind of work is just a photoshop exercise; most of the work is done at the capture stage using a range of light-boxes, reflectors and light absorbers, not to mention a very large piece of black material. Yes there are lots of things you can do in the processing, but it is far easier in most cases to create a good file to start with.
